The Full Story

At first, we began our journey as Jap To Go, a name we chose to reflect Japanese authenticity and perfection. But we soon learned thanks to honest feedback from our community that the word “Jap” could be hurtful to some.

We listened. We apologised. And we promised to do better.

That promise led us to a new beginning: Nara Roll.

We chose Nara because it’s one of Japan’s most historic cities beautiful, cultural, and easy to remember. The word Roll connects to what we love most: sushi rolls, ice cream rolls, and the idea of rolling forward with freshness and creativity.

Even our new logo tells a deeper story. The letter N is shaped like a Japanese temple, symbolizing tradition and respect. The word Roll carries our passion for sushi and sweet treats, and inside the "O," the Japanese word for sushi is subtly included—our way of staying true to the culture we celebrate every day.

So while our name has changed, our heart hasn’t. We're still the same team, still serving the food you love, and still one of Stockport’s top spots for Japanese street food and sushi.
